The NFT art exhibition that took place at the end of June represented a milestone in the art world, setting a precedent for the art world. How an event in Latin America drew thousands of people, generated an unforgettable experience, and sold out its own collection in a matter of minutes.
A 58-year-old man wonders “how can I get more recognition for my digital works? “A 9-year-old boy putting on headphones to immerse himself in a multi-sensory experience while watching an NFT on a museum screen; A group of 18-20 year olds opening a profile on Distrikt, their first entry into a 100% decentralized social network on the Internet Computer Protocol; a woman in her 30s, looking trendy, with a drink in her hand, posing in front of a work of art that recreates urban landscapes in 8bits; a CEO of an exchange sharing glances and projecting possible future business with a CEO of a marketplace; analog art collectors trying to insert themselves in new artistic currents.
These are some of the postcards provided by vibrant, the digital art meeting held on June 24th and 25th in Rosario, Argentina. For two days, the city was the epicenter of the NFT world. More than 4.000 people have witnessed a meeting to which the word “exhibition” is an understatement, and that has far surpassed in attendance other events of cultural interest that took place simultaneously in the city.
The repercussions were worldwide, since the most prestigious media of the crypto world have covered the event. In addition, the community that was generated from its launch has followed the development of the event through different platforms. Let’s see what happened at Vibrant.
More than an exhibition: An Experience
Attendees agree that Vibrant was an event that went beyond the simple appreciation of art in a gallery. The Juan B. Castagnino Museum witnessed how the public was one more element of an unique experience, where the visual spectacles projected on the walls of the space perfectly complemented the aesthetics proposed by the exhibited artworks. In that aspect, the attendance at Vibrant was an artistic event in itself.
The overwhelming success of Vibrant is due in part to the heterogeneity of the people it gathered in its two days: in that sense, the event managed to penetrate two completely different audiences, since on the one hand, the citizen who has little knowledge about NFTs, approached the museum out of curiosity; and on the other hand, those who are decidedly familiar with concepts such as web3, blockchain, decentralization, etc., who attended to keep up with new trends.
The public was also able to gather valuable information from the diversity of conferences that took place: NFTs and music, metaverse, economic aspects linked to digital art, ways of creating NFTs, among others. Those were an attractive pole for people who attended the event massively.
Finally, the fact of having among its ranks renowned projections such as BTC Flowers or Boxy Dude, have given the meeting a legitimacy that allows it to position itself as an essential agent when it comes to talk about NFTs. Moreover, the fact that these multi-awarded works coexist harmoniously with the creations of emerging artists from Rosario, the city where the event was held, boosted the growth of an ever-expanding community.
Vibrant Diamonds Collection: sold out in a matter of minutes
As a closing of an extraordinary work, Vibrant was dispatched with its own collection of NFTs. We are talking about a series of diamonds that were all the rage, selling out completely in eight minutes after the public mint, and positioning itself in the top volume positions in Internet Computer, the blockchain in which it was minted. You can access the secondary market here.
It should be noted in this regard that Vibrant was made possible in large part thanks to the Community Awards program, from the DFINITY foundation, which has Internet Computer as one of its flagship projects. Internet Computer has no gas fees, this added to the security and speed of its network allows projects like this one to come to the surface.
Thus, a large part of the community that brings together the Vibrant world and that is located in different parts of the planet, has received in its diamond, an NFT that it had been wishing for months, since everything related to the event has awakened unusual interest in the environment.
The fact that this movement is being promoted from Latin America speaks clearly of the power of the region and the positioning possibilities it has. That the events are developing in such a way, shows the existence of a public hungry for original proposals, with a contemporary perspective, and projected towards the future. The fact that the meeting had this magnitude also means that the NFTs are more alive than ever.
This is not an isolated fact, but the consequence of a joint work that has been developed for months by the organization, where every move has been studied in detail and nothing has been left to chance: from the technical issues (which were many and extremely complex) to the careful communication strategies, including the logistics of its own collection. Everything at Vibrant has been of unquestionable excellence.
It is important that this kind of events exist, that promote and bet on these emerging visions in the art world.
Today the NFT world is a little more popular and attractive. We owe this to the fact that there are people who take risks in favor of art.
Vibrant is here to stay. Long live Vibrant.
